Google’s New Chrome Update Will Boost Desktop Experience in One UI 8 DeX
Back in 2017, Samsung introduced the DeX feature, allowing users to connect their Galaxy smartphones to an external monitor for a desktop-like interface controlled via keyboard and mouse. At that time, Android didn’t have a built-in desktop mode — it was something Samsung developed on its own.
Fast forward to 2025, Google added Desktop Mode with Android 16, and Samsung quickly adopted it in One UI 8, upgrading its DeX experience to a whole new level.
Chrome for Android Will Now Show Desktop Versions Automatically
Earlier, when users opened Chrome for Android in DeX or Desktop Mode, many websites still loaded in their mobile version. The reason was the user agent — a code that identifies the browser as a phone.
Now, with the upcoming Google Chrome update, this issue is finally getting fixed. When you connect your Galaxy phone with One UI 8 to a monitor and launch Chrome, it will automatically display desktop versions of websites without needing to manually enable “Desktop Site.”
How the New Chrome Feature Works in Desktop Mode
According to Android Authority, Google has added a new feature to Chrome for Android that tells websites it’s a desktop browser whenever Desktop Mode is active. This means websites will load their desktop layouts just like on Windows or macOS.
The report also mentions that the feature isn’t enabled by default yet, but future Chrome updates may roll it out globally. Once it’s activated, users of Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 8 will enjoy a seamless desktop browsing experience.
Why It’s Great News for One UI 8 DeX Users
For Samsung DeX users, this change will be a game-changer. No more manually switching to desktop view for every site. Chrome will automatically optimize pages for large, horizontal screens, giving users a true PC-like browsing experience.
If you own a Galaxy flagship smartphone and use DeX Mode, this upcoming Chrome update will make your device feel even more like a portable desktop setup — fast, smooth, and professional.
