Samsung appears to be gearing up for one of its biggest launches in recent years. According to new industry reports, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Series may be unveiled on February 25, 2026, during a Galaxy Unpacked Event in San Francisco. While Samsung has not officially confirmed the date, multiple sources suggest that early planning for the event is already underway.
If this launch date turns out to be accurate, it would mark Samsung’s first San Francisco-based Galaxy S launch since the Galaxy S23 Series in 2023, signaling a return to a major global stage.
Samsung Drops Earlier Plans and Returns to the Classic Three-Model Lineup
Initial internal discussions reportedly suggested Samsung was considering a major shakeup in its flagship lineup. The company thought about replacing the standard model with a Galaxy S26 Pro, and introducing a new Edge version instead of the Plus.
However, user feedback and analysis of the response to the Galaxy S25 Edge led Samsung to walk back those plans. As a result, the company will continue with the familiar trio:
- Galaxy S26 (Standard)
- Galaxy S26 Plus
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
This last-minute course correction is said to be the main reason for the launch timeline being pushed slightly later than usual.
Power and Performance: Exynos 2600 Globally, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in Select Markets
Performance will once again vary depending on the region. Most international models are expected to come with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 chipset, while markets such as China, Japan, and North America may receive units powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The focus for the S26 Series is rumored to center on:
- Stronger AI-based camera processing
- Improved battery efficiency
- Better thermal performance for sustained gaming and multitasking
Production and Sale Timeline
Mass production for the Galaxy S26 Series is expected to begin in December 2025, followed by increased output in January. While the devices may be announced in late February, the official sales are expected to begin sometime in March 2026, similar to the Galaxy S25 launch cycle.
